- Eighteen-year-old Michael Aidan Vargas was struck by lightning while kayaking with his father on the Blackwater River on Sunday and fell into the water.
- Vargas’s father and employees from the Navy Morale, Welfare and Recreation program witnessed the strike and began an immediate search at the river site.
