Overview
- The shooting happened shortly after midnight on Tuesday, May 26, at a short-term rental in West Dallas where roughly 50 to 150 people were gathered and police found four people with gunshot wounds, three of whom died.
- Authorities arrested 18-year-old Tyson McGriff on Friday, June 5, and charged him with capital murder and aggravated assault after the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force took him into custody.
- Investigators say crime-scene teams recovered several .40-caliber shell casings and used cellphone location records and photo-lineup identifications to place McGriff at the scene.
- The arrest affidavit also describes witness accounts that an uninvited group arrived with guns, an argument broke out, and witnesses identified McGriff as one of the shooters and reported he returned inside before the gunfire.
- The investigation remains active with McGriff held at the Dallas County Jail and investigators saying they have not ruled out additional arrests as families of the victims continue to mourn.
