Teen Charged After Man Found Dead and Child Injured in Dungannon

The charging of a 16-year-old follows an active PSNI Major Investigation Team inquiry and ongoing forensic work at the Lisnahull Road scene.

Overview

  • Police and paramedics responded after a neighbour reported hearing a woman scream and discovered a man dead inside a Lisnahull Road home on Saturday.
  • An eight-year-old girl who was badly hurt at the scene was given on-scene first aid by officers and paramedics and is now in a stable condition in hospital.
  • A 16-year-old was arrested at the scene and has been formally charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder and threats to kill; he is due to appear at Omagh Magistrates' Court.
  • The property remains cordoned off while the PSNI Major Investigation Team carries out forensic examinations and a post-mortem is planned to formally establish the cause of death.
  • Police say they do not believe there is any ongoing public risk, they have urged people not to speculate and asked anyone with information to contact detectives as the community deals with shock and trauma.
