Teacher Found Murdered in School Library; Colleague Found Dead After Crash

Investigators suspect jealousy linked to the victim’s recent relationship, and the Landeskriminalamt has seized weapons and opened a detailed forensic probe.

Overview

  • A 28-year-old teacher was discovered dead in the library of the Mittelschule in Taufkirchen an der Pram after her family found her car on school grounds on Friday and searched the building.
  • Police say a 29-year-old male colleague is the primary suspect and that he fled the scene by car before crashing about 22 kilometres away and being found dead with gunshot wounds consistent with an apparent suicide.
  • Prosecutors report the victim was stabbed multiple times with a dagger-like weapon and shot in the head several times, and they say the firearm used was legally owned by the suspect; both suspected weapons have been secured for analysis.
  • The Landeskriminalamt Oberösterreich has taken over the homicide investigation, both bodies are scheduled for autopsy, and investigators are conducting witness interviews and forensic evidence processing.
  • Education authorities and Krisenhilfe Oberösterreich have activated crisis-intervention support for students, staff and families, and officials say motive appears to be jealousy or unrequited love tied to the victim’s recent new partner.
