TCL Details SQD Mini LED Lineup, Sets $8,000 Entry Price for RGB TV

The company argues its Super Quantum Dot panels deliver similar picture quality for far less than RGB designs.

Overview

  • TCL listed availability and prices: the QM8L SQD-Mini LED is on sale now at $2,500 for 65 inches up to $6,000 for 98 inches, while the QM7L SQD and the RM9L RGB set are open for pre-order.
  • TCL says its Super Quantum Dot Mini LED panels improve color accuracy without sacrificing HDR contrast and give better value than RGB, with a senior executive arguing an 85-inch QM8L can match the RM9L’s picture at about half the price.
  • The QM8L features an anti-reflective panel, up to 4,000 local dimming zones, peak brightness to 6,000 nits, and Dolby Vision 2 Max support coming via a software update.
  • The RM9L is TCL’s first RGB‑Mini LED TV using discrete red, green, and blue LEDs, with over 3,800 dimming zones, up to 6,000 nits, Dolby Vision 2 after an update, and pricing from $8,000 for 85 inches to $30,000 for 115 inches.
  • All the new sets run Google TV with Gemini, which will let users change picture settings by voice, including turning off motion smoothing, and they include Audio by Bang & Olufsen.
