Taste of Chicago Returns to Grant Park for Five-Day Summer Festival

City officials used the NASCAR pause to restore the festival’s July timing and open Grant Park to expanded vendor and entertainment programming.

Overview

  • Taste of Chicago, which opened Wednesday, July 8, runs through Sunday, July 12 with daily hours of 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and free admission to the public.
  • All food purchases are cashless with vendors accepting only credit cards or mobile pay, and the event features more than 80 vendors including longtime participant Eli’s Cheesecake with a 1,000-pound display.
  • The new Chef’s Stage debuts Friday through Sunday with scheduled appearances by Maya-Camille Broussard, Carrie Nahabedian, Diana Dávila, John Manion and Javauneeka Jacobs.
  • Musical headliners include Beach Bunny, Common, Babyface, Julieta Venegas and Original Koffee, and a drone and fireworks show is set for Friday at 9:15 p.m. near Buckingham Fountain.
  • City-managed street closures around Grant Park are in effect with streets scheduled to reopen by Monday, July 13 at 11:59 p.m., and the festival’s return to July follows a multi-year move to September that accommodated the NASCAR Chicago Street Race.
