Tangermünde Murder Investigation Moves to Court-Ordered Mass DNA Testing

Police will collect anonymized swabs from men who were in the area in June 2024 to compare with an unmatched male profile.

Overview

  • The Amtsgericht Stendal authorized a mass DNA comparison at the request of prosecutors.
  • Police have sent letters summoning men aged 17 to 75 who were in Tangermünde or nearby at the time of the 2024 killing.
  • Swabs will be collected from March 27 to 29 at the Grete-Minde-Saal in Tangermünde.
  • Samples will be anonymized and used only to match against the crime-scene DNA profile, and invitees are not under concrete suspicion.
