Overview
- Approved investments span electronics, automotive components, footwear, shipbuilding, solar cells and aerospace/defence, with proposals from Kaynes Circuits, Johnson Electric, Evervan Kothari, Chennai Radha Engineering, Yazaki India, Hyundai and Gensol.
- Projects are planned across Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, Ranipet, Tiruvannamalai, Krishnagiri, Namakkal, Perambalur, Tiruchirappalli, Karur, Tiruppur, Ramanathapuram and Thoothukudi.
- Evervan Kothari’s footwear proposal is expected to create about 25,000 jobs, bringing Adidas manufacturing to Tamil Nadu.
- The Cabinet approved a shipbuilding push with Chennai Radha Engineering set to make ship hulls to strengthen the blue economy and support livelihoods for fishermen.
- The state highlighted a ₹9,000 crore Jaguar Land Rover–Tata Motors facility as India’s first to manufacture JLR luxury models, and Chief Minister M. K. Stalin with Tata Group chairman N. Chandrasekaran is slated to inaugurate a car plant in Ranipet on February 9.
