Taiwan Spots Five Chinese Warships Off Its Coast, No PLA Flights

Taipei says its forces tracked the ships in a routine response.

Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense reported five PLA Navy vessels operating around Taiwan as of 6 a.m. (UTC+8) on Feb. 23.
The ROC Armed Forces said they monitored the situation and took response measures.
No Chinese military aircraft were detected during the same reporting period, according to the MND.
On Feb. 22, Taiwan logged two PLA air sorties and six ships, with one sortie crossing the median line into the northern ADIZ.
Chinese state media said Australia’s HMAS Toowoomba transited the Taiwan Strait on Feb. 20–21 under PLA tracking, reflecting continuing foreign navy passages noted by Taiwan in 2025.
