Synopsys and Atomera Extend TCAD Partnership to Gallium Nitride Modeling
The goal is to give chip designers trusted GaN simulation files they can use to plan real builds.
Overview
- Synopsys and Atomera announced an expansion of their collaboration to model gallium nitride devices for RF and power electronics using the Sentaurus TCAD platform.
- Sentaurus TCAD is software that lets engineers simulate transistor structures on a computer to test performance before paying for fabrication.
- Under the deal, Atomera will create a GaN calibration workflow and deliver validated TCAD decks that run inside Sentaurus.
- The new work builds on earlier integration of Atomera’s Mears Silicon Technology through its MSTcad toolkit in the Sentaurus environment.
- Atomera’s shares jumped about 38 percent after the news and are up roughly 187 percent this year, as the company remains unprofitable and raised about $25 million in February.
