- NSW Police charged a 70-year-old with three counts of sending documents threatening death or grievous bodily harm after a raid in Sydney's west.
- Officers seized over 100 letters along with stamps, notepads and electronic devices, and Assistant Commissioner Brett McFadden said the accused was acting alone.
- The letter received at Lakemba Mosque threatened Muslims, Middle Eastern communities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and several politicians with references to Australia Day.
- In a separate incident, a 40-year-old was charged over a religiously motivated assault on a man distributing flyers in Bankstown and was granted conditional bail to face court in February.
- Police also charged a 55-year-old over threatening Triple Zero calls and a 37-year-old over social media posts inciting violence toward politicians, with a high-visibility operation planned for January 26.
