Overview
- NSW Police said Dennis was found dead at his Leichhardt home about 7:30pm on Monday, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
- He was arrested in late January after Australian Border Force officers examined his phone on arrival from Cambodia and referred suspected child abuse material to the AFP.
- He faced charges including possessing child abuse material, transmitting such material using a carriage service, and an import offence, and he had been granted bail with strict conditions ahead of a March 18 court date.
- In a bail hearing, a Commonwealth prosecutor said AFP-captured material included an image of a boy described as aged six to ten and alleged sexualised chats.
- Dennis co-founded the Cambodia-focused charity Reasonable Cause, a funding partnership with Cambodian Children’s Fund was later terminated, and investigators are assessing any risk to children linked to his overseas activities.
