Overview
- Swan Defence and Heavy Industries, which announced the contract Tuesday, will build four 92,500 DWT bulk carriers for Energy ONE Limited.
- The order, tied to New Energy One’s $2 billion plan for zero-emission ships, is estimated at Rs 1,501–3,000 crore.
- The vessels will be the first ammonia dual-fuel ships built in India and rank among the largest commercial ships constructed domestically, with ammonia use at an early stage in marine service.
- Deliveries are scheduled to start in October 2029, with the remaining three ships slated at four-month intervals.
- Following Tuesday’s announcement, Swan Defence shares hit the 5% upper circuit on the BSE, lifting the company’s market value to about Rs 8,974 crore.
