Suspended Telangana ASP Remanded After ACB Seizes Rs 5.92 Crore in Assets

The 14-day judicial remand gives investigators time to verify property records and build a disproportionate-assets case under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Overview

  • ACB teams carried out coordinated searches on Wednesday at two homes and 15 linked locations and recovered documents for about 27.29–27.9 acres of agricultural land, five plots, two houses and one commercial building.
  • Investigators also seized movable items including Rs 3.83 lakh in cash, bank balances of about Rs 8 lakh, roughly 1 kg of gold and two cars reported as a Maruti Swift and a Kia Seltos.
  • The ACB recorded a documented asset value of about Rs 5.92 crore but officials warned the market value of the immovable properties could be many times higher.
  • A special ACB court on Thursday sent suspended Additional SP N Bhujanga Rao to 14 days' judicial custody and he was moved to Chanchalguda jail while the probe continues.
  • Rao is already named in a separate alleged phone‑tapping case from the previous BRS government, and the ACB said it will trace possible benami holdings and complete verification before filing formal charges.
