Suspended CISF Constable Arrested With 158 Kg of Marijuana in Hyderabad

Police say his use of a CISF identity to bypass checks indicates the seizure may be part of an organised interstate smuggling network.

Overview

  • The accused, identified as 39-year-old Panagudu Shiva Krishna, was taken into custody in S. R. Nagar after a Hyderabad police sting that recovered the consignment on June 2.
  • Officers seized 158 kg of dry ganja, a Chevrolet Sail (KL 64 A 6092) and three mobile phones, and estimated the haul and items at about ₹79 lakh.
  • Police say Krishna joined the CISF in 2009, later served with the NDRF, and was suspended after an NDPS arrest in September 2025 before resuming alleged trafficking.
  • Investigators allege he procured ganja from cultivators — one report names Odisha — and supplied interstate peddlers in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra, and a case under the NDPS Act has been registered.
  • Authorities say the scale and routing of the seizure point to organised, commission-based smuggling and they are probing sourcing, distribution links and whether his official ID was repeatedly used to evade checks.
