Suspect Charged in Fatal St. Louis Starbucks Drive-Thru Shooting of Skating Coach

Court and corrections records show the defendant was on parole after prior robbery convictions.

Overview

  • Gabrielle “Sam” Linehan, 28, a figure skating coach and former Team USA synchronized skater, was shot during a robbery while in her car at a Starbucks in the Tower Grove East neighborhood.
  • Keith Lamon Brown, 58, was arrested within about a day and is charged with first-degree murder, multiple counts of first-degree robbery, armed criminal action, and unlawful firearm possession, and he is being held without bond at the St. Louis City Justice Center.
  • Police say surveillance video shows a man in a high-visibility vest and helmet approaching Linehan’s car and ordering her to raise her hands before the shooting, and investigators report that her bank cards and driver’s license were taken.
  • Authorities link Brown to two earlier armed robberies—a Feb. 6 Jack in the Box drive-thru holdup and a Feb. 8 Dollar General theft—with shots reported in each incident based on police accounts.
  • A search warrant led officers to seize a neon vest, a helmet, suspected stolen property including cards and identification, and suspected narcotics, as the investigation continues and the skating community mourns Linehan.
