Overview
- Cargo Largo security, which contacted police Saturday, reported a suspicious powder in a Barbie package at the Independence, Missouri, store.
- Testing confirmed the powder was fentanyl, and officers determined five tampered packages had been sold on March 19–20.
- Police recovered all five packages, reported no injuries or overdoses, and said there is no evidence the items went to other retailers.
- Investigators said the dolls were not contaminated because the drug was taped flat inside the cardboard backing of the packaging.
- A suspect is in custody as detectives trace the dolls’ shipment path, and Cargo Largo says it is cooperating with the investigation.
