Overview
- The List was announced Tuesday and is scheduled for release on September 18 via Hoffs’s Baroque Folk label, with the lead single “Casablanca” available now.
- Hoffs recorded the 12-song album live at her Los Angeles home and co-produced it with CJ Camerieri using an intimate, collaborative process that began around her kitchen table.
- “Casablanca” was written with Dan Wilson and Camerieri and draws on a rewatch of the 1942 film plus a 1988 walk through New Orleans with Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir.
- The record features guest contributions from Rufus Wainwright, Dan Wilson, Edie Brickell, Spencer Zahn, Greg Leisz, Jesse Harris and others, and includes a track adapted from Hoffs’s novel This Bird Has Flown.
- Hoffs will tour in support of The List beginning September 5, with band members including Camerieri, Ryan Lerman, Spencer Zahn and JT Bates and a five-night residency at New York’s Café Carlyle set for September 21–26.
