Surveys Begin for Mumbai's Madh–Versova Bridge With February 2026 Build Target

Full-scale construction hinges on final forest approvals and High Court permission.

Overview

  • BMC has launched preliminary surveys and soil investigations at the Versova Creek site.
  • A senior official says site work could start by 15 February 2026, contingent on Stage-II forest clearance and court nods.
  • The Rs 2,395 crore project will run 2,064 metres with a 600-metre cable-stayed section featuring a 300-metre main span and an arm planned to link the Dahisar–Bhayandar coastal road.
  • The new link is expected to eliminate an 18–20 km detour and cut typical 60–90 minute journeys to about 10 minutes.
  • In-principle MoEFCC approval has been secured following MCZMA’s 2023 nod for a revised alignment, and completion is targeted for 31 March 2029.
