Overview
- Surrey announced on June 30, 2026 an agreement in principle with the Vancouver Giants to develop the City Centre Arena and Cultural Event Centre as the team’s new home.
- The arena will sit on a 5.1-acre site at 10355 King George Blvd. that the city plans to acquire from Wesgroup Properties through a land-swap of three municipal parcels.
- City officials list a net estimated project cost of $360 million with funding included in Surrey’s 2026 budget and a target opening around 2030 if approvals and financing are completed.
- Preliminary renderings show a compact, 10,000-seat venue embedded in a high-rise mixed-use district with a hotel, conference space, housing, retail and a public plaza, and the capacity would nearly double the Giants’ current Langley Events Centre seating.
- Surrey projects about $2.4 billion in economic benefit over the first 10 years, but the plan still requires final design work, formal contracts, public approvals and firm financing before construction can begin.
