Investigators say a burnt car found in Surrey on Jan. 12 is connected to a fatal house fire earlier in the day.

  • IHIT assumed conduct after a man's body was found in a burned home on the 12700 block of 56 Avenue early Jan. 12.
  • A burned car located near Redwood Park at 17900 20th Avenue was confirmed connected to the death.
  • Police say a man was discovered shot around noon Tuesday in the 3500 block of 176 Street, and a vehicle fire in the 18900 block of 40th Avenue is linked to the case.
  • IHIT says the incidents appear targeted with a potential organized-crime nexus and is working with LMD IFIS and CFSEU-BC.
  • Investigators are gathering CCTV and dashcam footage, including video from 5 to 7 a.m. on Jan. 12 near the house fire, and are appealing for tips to the IHIT information line.
