Surat Police Seize 2,029 Kg of Fake Ghee in Factory Raid, Arrest Two

Police say the fake ghee was pushed to vulnerable buyers at cut rates.

Overview

  • The Surat Special Operations Group, which raided a Sachin GIDC factory Thursday, seized about 2,029 kg of adulterated ghee.
  • Police arrested Bharat Polara, 48, and Amin Vadhvaniya, 45, with a probe now mapping the distribution network.
  • Officers also confiscated machinery, raw materials, mobile phones and cash worth Rs 21,61,570, bringing total seizures to Rs 36,36,530.
  • Investigators say the unit mixed small amounts of real ghee with palm oil, vegetable fat, essence and coloring to imitate cow ghee.
  • The product was allegedly sold cheap in slum areas, small groceries and highway dhabas, raising fraud and safety concerns for low‑income customers.
