- By June 30, 2026 the National Task Force had visited 30 higher education institutions across 10 states and held 25 stakeholder consultations as part of an evidence-driven review.
- The panel was constituted to identify major factors behind student suicides, review laws and institutional responses, and propose reforms to strengthen accountability and prevention in colleges and universities.
- Consultations explicitly examined disability inclusion, caste-based discrimination, gender-related pressures, challenges faced by ST and OBC students, decriminalisation of suicide, and input from mental-health NGOs and law students.
- The Ministry of Education has posted the task force’s Interim Report and Status Reports online, and former Chief Statistician Prof. T. C. A. Anant has been appointed to conduct scientific analysis of the survey data.
