- The Supreme Court on Monday, July 27, 2026 stayed the Himachal High Court’s order to register FIRs and form a Special Investigation Team while it considers Special Leave Petitions by the Kullu officers.
- The three-judge bench upheld and directed the immediate transfer of Kullu’s Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police and the concerned SDM to keep the probe separate from their continued presence.
- The High Court had found the officers failed to maintain public order and 'facilitated' large events after a DLSA site inspection reported 3,000–5,000 attendees, liquor served without permit, seizure of CCTV footage, recovery of drug-related materials and a suspected drug-overdose death.
