Overview
- The Supreme Court, which heard the case on Friday, kept the April 5–6 Sub-Inspector recruitment test on schedule and limited provisional permission to petitioner Suraj Mal Meena.
- The bench revised its Thursday order that had briefly opened the door for about 713 similarly placed candidates to take the test with results kept sealed.
- RPSC told the Court that 7.71 lakh candidates are already set to sit across 41 cities and 1,174 centers with about 71,000 staff, and said it could not add hundreds of names at the last minute.
- The Court directed that any result for the provisionally allowed candidate will be preserved for review, while broader disputes over age relaxation and the 2021 process remain before the Rajasthan High Court.
- The 2021 SI exam was challenged over alleged paper leaks and irregularities, and the outcome of pending appeals could decide if more candidates get another chance or if further testing is required.
