Support Among Connected U.S. Jews Drops as Israelis See Security Risk in Ending Iran War

The findings suggest rising pressure on leaders during unresolved talks with Iran.

Overview

  • The JPPI survey of 806 institutionally affiliated American Jews, released Sunday, found support for the U.S.-Israel campaign fell to 60% after the April 8 ceasefire.
  • Support among respondents who identify as leaning liberal fell to 42% from 57% in early March, marking the sharpest drop within the JPPI panel.
  • Opposition in the JPPI sample climbed to about one third, and only 14% of respondents judged the war a major success.
  • An Israel Democracy Institute poll fielded April 26–30 found 64% of Jewish Israelis say ending the war now would not serve Israel’s security, and 62% expect a return to widescale fighting.
  • The same IDI survey reported 56.5% of Jewish Israelis now see the Trump administration as exerting more influence over Israel’s defense policy than their own government.
