- Greater Manchester Police, which disclosed the case Tuesday, said 13 girls aged 13 to 16 have been identified across seven high schools.
- Officers are trying to trace four more girls from two schools after finding their images during a June 2025 probe that began when a parent reported a picture shared on social media.
- Abusali Rahman, 36, is charged with 12 counts linked to upskirting, three counts for publishing AI-generated sexualised images, three counts for making AI-generated images, one count of distributing an indecent image, one count of attempting to meet a girl under 16 following grooming, and one count of operating equipment beneath clothing without consent.
- Rahman was remanded in custody after an April appearance at Wigan Magistrates’ Court and is due to appear at Bolton Crown Court on May 28.
- GMP says parents and schools linked to the 13 identified girls have been informed, specialist support is in place, and alleged victims have lifelong anonymity under law.
