Overview

  • Mansfield filed a federal suit on August 19 accusing KRSM and its president Syed Kazmi of taking about 1.1 million gallons of fuel from Mansfield’s Twin Oaks terminal and selling a portion to Freedom Fuel stations without paying for it.
  • On Aug. 28 Judge Gerald Austin McHugh lifted an earlier freeze but ordered the defendants to maintain at least $2.75 million in the identified M&T Bank account while the case proceeds.
  • Mansfield seeks roughly $3.998 million plus interest and brings claims for breach of contract, conversion, unjust enrichment and related counts tied to KRSM exceeding its $150,000 credit limit and refusing draft payment requests.
  • KRSM and Kazmi reject the allegations and say the dispute is an accounting disagreement over mispriced invoices, and Freedom Fuel is not named in the suit even though the White House publicly promoted the chain.
