‘Superbusen’ Film Rolls Cameras in Chemnitz for 2027 Release

Music drives the tragicomic adaptation, with original songs written by director Constanze Klaue.

Overview

  • Principal photography is underway at TU Chemnitz’s Weinhold Building with exterior scenes shot at city landmarks including the Karl-Marx Monument and the Roter Turm.
  • Rapper Finna makes her screen debut as Gisela, with Fritzi Haberlandt and Emma Bading in supporting roles and singer Gwen Dolyn also joining the cast.
  • Constanze Klaue directs from her own screenplay and wrote the film’s band songs, shaping a lighter-toned tragicomedy that touches on feminism, body-shaming and encounters with right-wing extremism.
  • Club interiors set at Chemnitz’s Atomino in 2016 were rebuilt in Leipzig using the venue’s original inventory, while all outdoor sequences were filmed in Chemnitz to capture local atmosphere.
  • Filming in Chemnitz continues through late March before moving to Cologne, with additional shoots in Dresden and Berlin and a theatrical release planned for 2027.
