Supabase Raises $500 Million at $10.5 Billion Valuation

Investors are betting Supabase can become the default backend for AI agents by scaling Postgres to support very large AI workloads.

Overview

  • The company announced a $500 million funding round led by Singapore’s GIC with participation from Accel, Y Combinator, Craft, Felicis, Coatue and Stripe.
  • Supabase says it serves more than 250,000 customers and employs about 350 people since its 2020 launch.
  • The startup reported that AI-assisted coding tools now create the majority of new databases on its platform and that Anthropic’s Claude Code is the largest contributor in 2026.
  • Supabase previewed Multigres, an open-source horizontal scaling layer for Postgres that aims to add sharding, zero-downtime migrations and high availability so teams can scale without leaving the Postgres ecosystem.
  • The raise reflects broader investor demand for AI infrastructure and could accelerate consolidation in the database layer as developers and non-experts use agentic coding to spin up apps that default to Supabase for backend services.
