Overview
- Sunedu, which unveiled the 2026 design Wednesday, said the card honors Pope León XIV’s links to Peru’s universities, including roles at USAT in Chiclayo and participation in PUCP’s University Assembly.
- The card costs S/17.70 per student and universities file requests through Sunedu’s online SIU system, which has been active since April 20.
- Licensed universities must register students, upload compliant photos and payments in SIU, then pick up and hand out cards after Sunedu issues them within six business days.
- Sunedu has produced 69,581 cards so far and delivered more than 31,000 to campuses, with distribution continuing on each school’s schedule.
- The ID grants a 50% public transport fare from 5 a.m. to midnight Monday to Saturday, and students can report refusals to ATU or Indecopi.
