Sunday Times Tax List 2026: Betfred’s Done Brothers Lead Record £5.76bn Paid by Top 100

The list’s compiler credits higher corporation and dividend tax rates for the jump in receipts.

Overview

  • Fred and Peter Done of Betfred top the rankings with an estimated £400.1 million, as the combined total rises to £5.758 billion from £4.985 billion a year earlier.
  • Entry to the list required at least £11 million this year, and fourteen entries paid £100 million or more.
  • First-time entrants include Erling Haaland with an estimated £16.9 million and Mohamed Salah with £14.5 million, alongside Harry Styles on £24.7 million; JK Rowling paid £47.5 million, Ed Sheeran £19.9 million, and Anthony Joshua £11 million.
  • The methodology aggregates corporation, dividend, capital gains and income taxes, selected payroll taxes and duties, apportioned by ownership using the most recently filed company accounts.
  • A notable share of listees are now based offshore, with roughly one in nine no longer UK resident, according to the compiler.
