Overview
- The Suffolk Show opened on Wednesday at Trinity Park with tens of thousands of visitors passing through gates for the two-day event.
- Morning journeys were hampered by heavy congestion on the A14 and around Ipswich with some attendees reporting drives of more than two hours.
- The programme included traditional competitions and family attractions such as sheep judging, cattle classes, show jumping, the Adnams food area and an Ipswich Town meet-and-greet with Leif Davis.
- For the first time a woman performed a live sheep-shearing demonstration at the show and organisers staged four rare six-horse heavy-horse teams, a moment the director said was especially moving.
- Show director Mark Donsworth described the opening day as a tremendous success and organisers and stewards stressed animal welfare and logistics lessons for future events after the warm set-up days.
