Suffolk Sheriff’s Officer Charged With Trafficking and Child Rape in Three Massachusetts Towns

The case puts fresh scrutiny on law enforcement oversight during a multi-agency child exploitation probe.

Overview

  • Richard Kielczweski, who was arrested Friday, is held on $250,000 bail and is due for arraignment Monday in Plymouth District Court.
  • Prosecutors filed counts in Hanson, Halifax, and Middleborough that include trafficking a person under 18, aggravated rape of a child, rape with force, pay for sex with a minor, enticing a child, witness intimidation, and posing a child in a sexual act.
  • Investigators say the alleged victim is a 15-year-old boy and that assaults and the creation of child sexual abuse material took place across the three towns.
  • The case began with a Hanson police investigation last week and now includes Massachusetts State Police along with Hanson, Middleborough, and Halifax officers.
  • The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office said it has indefinitely suspended Kielczweski and noted he was first hired in 2015.
