Overview
- The International Organization for Migration said on Wednesday that intensified fighting since late 2025 has driven more than 200,000 people from their homes across Kordofan, with displacement in Sheikan district up about 25 percent in eight months.
- Repeated drone strikes and clashes have hit El Obeid’s main electrical transformer, causing prolonged power outages that have stopped water pumping, disrupted hospitals and cut phone and communications services.
- Heavy seasonal rains in North Darfur damaged or destroyed roughly 1,350 shelters in the Tawila area and forced more than 1,000 families into new displacement, with additional flood damage reported in Kabkabiya and Shangil Tobaya.
