Sturgill Simpson, as Johnny Blue Skies, Sets 29-Date Arena Tour for Fall

The tour reflects a campaign built on physical media, face-value resale, no openers, long sets.

Overview

  • Johnny Blue Skies and the Dark Clouds announced the 29-date Mutiny for the Masses Tour on Wednesday, with presales starting April 8 at 10 a.m. local time and general on-sale April 10 at 10 a.m.
  • The run begins Sept. 4 at Austin’s Moody Center and ends Oct. 30 at Lexington’s Rupp Arena, and the band plans marathon sets with no opening act.
  • To curb scalping, tickets use Ticketmaster’s Face Value Exchange and AXS Resale so fans can only resell at the original price, with Mobile ID and limited transfers where laws allow.
  • The tour supports Mutiny After Midnight, which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 from physical sales only and is now available on iTunes with a bonus cover of Eddie Murphy’s Party All the Time.
  • A two-song 7-inch arrives for Record Store Day on April 18 featuring covers of A Whiter Shade of Pale and You Don’t Miss Your Water, and Simpson says streaming will likely follow at an unspecified date.
