Study Finds 15% Rise in U.S. Traffic Deaths on Major Album Release Days

Researchers say the pattern points to drivers fiddling with phones or car infotainment and urge simple platform reminders plus policy updates to curb risk.

  • The increase was strongest for drivers who were sober, driving alone, driving in daytime, and under 40 years old, a pattern the authors say is consistent with distraction from using phones or integrated infotainment systems rather than alcohol-related parties.
