Studio Tour London Turns Sept. 1 Into A Timed Back to Hogwarts Celebration

The attraction used scheduled platform announcements and new fan programming to mark the 25th film anniversary and channel visitors to ticketed Wizarding World experiences.

Overview

  • Warner Bros. Studio Tour London staged a special Back to Hogwarts program on Tuesday, Sept. 1 that included an 11:00 a.m. broadcast announcement and repeat announcements every 30 minutes at its Platform 9¾ recreation.
  • The Studio Tour added on-site activations for the day such as animatronic Hagrid demonstrations, exclusive photo opportunities, themed food and drink, a digital Back to Hogwarts quiz, and complimentary Hogwarts train tickets for qualifying passport-holders.
  • The timed programming was presented as part of the Studio Tour’s First Year at Hogwarts feature, a 25th-anniversary run that continues through September 7 and highlights original sets like the Great Hall and the Hogwarts Express.
  • Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando promoted their Wizarding World lands and rides as places for fans to mark Sept. 1, including Hogsmeade, Diagon Alley and the inter-park Hogwarts Express experience at Universal Orlando.
  • Local reporting warned fans that King’s Cross station is not hosting an official public countdown this year, and organizers advised visiting ticketed attractions such as the Studio Tour or Universal parks instead.
