Overview
- An eight-inch cast-iron water main broke on Coldwater Canyon Avenue near Woodbridge Street Saturday afternoon, sending large volumes of water across the roadway.
- LADWP crews responded on site and closed the southbound lanes to repair the break and limit further flooding.
- About 40 to 60 customers lost water service because of the rupture and LADWP confirmed service was restored by Sunday morning.
- Aerial and citizen video showed part of the roadway crumbling from the force of the water and LAPD officers directed residents to move vehicles for safety.
- Officials have not determined the cause and say investigators will examine the pipe and site as crews complete repairs and road restoration work.
