Stripe Partnerships Lead Connor Fitzgerald Steps Down
The exit comes as Stripe presses forward with regulated stablecoin payments built on its Bridge acquisition and new European licenses.
Overview
- Connor Fitzgerald said on X that last week was his final week leading Stripe’s stablecoin and Bridge partnerships and that he will move on to work on onchain banking.
- Fitzgerald said he joined Bridge shortly after Stripe’s roughly $1.1 billion acquisition and helped build a sponsor-bank backed stablecoin card program that reached more than 100 markets.
- The program introduced the first U.S. stablecoin settlement flow and grew annualized payment volume from zero to tens of millions of dollars by scaling sponsor-bank and card-network relationships.
- Bridge recently received Markets in Crypto-Assets authorization and an Electronic Money Institution license in Luxembourg, enabling euro-backed stablecoins, named virtual IBANs, and EU-wide euro accounts under one regulatory framework.
- Visa has expanded cooperation to deploy stablecoin-backed Visa card programs in 100-plus countries by the end of 2026 and Stripe continues to integrate Bridge into its broader payments strategy while leadership shifts.
