Strava Overhauls Strength Tools to Add Sets, Reps, Muscle Maps and Partner Integrations

The company says the redesign will centralize gym tracking and social sharing through 14 partner integrations with a global rollout planned in the coming weeks.

Overview

  • Strava announced Thursday that it is replacing its limited strength logging with a refreshed workout log that lets users record sets, reps and weight directly in the app.
  • Every logged strength session will auto-generate a visual muscle map that highlights which muscle groups were trained based on the exercises recorded.
  • The update launches with integrations for 14 apps and device makers, including Garmin, COROS, WHOOP, Fitbod and Hevy, while 24 Hour Fitness will join later this summer.
  • Strava is adding five strength-specific share formats to bring gym workouts into its social feed so users can display lifts and progress to friends and clubs.
  • The features will roll out globally in the coming weeks, but the real impact will depend on how reliably partner apps and wearables transmit exercise-level data such as exercise type, sets, reps and weight.
