Storm Uproots Tree at Odisha–Andhra Border Market, Killing Three Women

Overview

• A large tree collapsed during a Kalbaisakhi storm at the Peda Baaili weekly market on the Odisha–Andhra Pradesh border, killing three women and injuring others.
• Police and Munchimput fire crews cut through the fallen trunk to reach victims, and ambulances took the injured to Munchimput Primary Health Centre in Andhra Pradesh.
• Seetama Khara, 40, and Tilatama Khara, 30, died at the site, and Mani Pampa later died during treatment, while Ramchandra Pampa remained hospitalized.
• The bodies were sent for post-mortem as Pottangi MLA Rama Chandra Kadam visited the scene, coordinated care with Andhra Pradesh officials, and urged Red Cross assistance.
