Overview
- Following Saturday night's amber wind period, the Met Office lifted remaining yellow warnings early Sunday after Storm Dave moved into the North Sea faster than forecast.
- The storm produced official peak gusts of 93mph at Capel Curig in North Wales, with 75mph at Emley Moor in West Yorkshire and St Bees Head in Cumbria, and 73mph in Aberdeenshire.
- Transport and utilities reported ongoing disruption, including cancelled CalMac ferries, restrictions on major Scottish bridges and the Humber Bridge, closures on the A66, rail speed limits and replacement buses, and localized power cuts under repair.
- Northern Scotland saw heavy hill snow with drifting and blizzards, up to around 30cm on higher ground, and agencies kept a scattering of flood warnings and alerts in place as showers persisted.
- Forecasters now expect a quick shift to much warmer air, with temperatures rising to around 20–24C in England and Wales by Tuesday and Wednesday, which could speed recovery but increase snowmelt and local flooding risk in the north.
