Stolen Mercedes Rams Brisbane Hermès Store in Pre-Dawn Heist

Investigators are turning to forensics alongside public tips to identify the crew.

Overview

  • Queensland Police say the Hermès boutique at Edward and Elizabeth streets was hit just after 3 am Monday.
  • Officers report a stolen white Mercedes SUV smashed the front, three offenders grabbed stock, moved it to a second car, then fled in a third vehicle.
  • Police allege the SUV was stolen from a Coorparoo home on April 1, and it was abandoned at the store and is undergoing forensic examination.
  • CCTV captured the getaway, with 9News reporting police were within metres of a suspect before the group escaped.
  • Losses are expected to be large given Hermès bags can sell for tens of thousands of dollars, and police urge anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage or who spots suspect online listings to contact them.
