Stellantis, Wayve and Uber Sign Non‑Binding MoU for Level 4 Robotaxis

It pairs Stellantis vehicle platforms, Wayve’s mapless AI, Uber’s app to create a framework for global driverless taxi testing and future commercial deals.

Overview

  • Three companies announced a non-binding memorandum of understanding on Wednesday to jointly develop and deploy Level 4 driverless robotaxi services worldwide.
  • Under the framework Stellantis will supply L4‑Ready vehicle platforms with embedded sensor suites and redundancy, Wayve will provide its mapless, video‑trained driving AI, and Uber will integrate the cars into its ride‑hailing network.
  • The MoU sets out cooperation on technology integration, testing, licensing, production planning and fleet procurement but does not include binding timetables, prices or production commitments.
  • Wayve and Uber are already running or planning pilot autonomous rides with safety operators in cities such as London and Tokyo, and the three partners say they will focus testing across Europe and North America.
  • The deal adds manufacturing scale to existing WayveUber tests and raises competition with other robotaxi efforts while leaving regulatory approval, safety validation and commercial contracts as the key next steps.
