Overview
- Stellantis announced a voluntary global recall in early August covering an estimated 1,516,604 Ram 1500 trucks from model years 2019–2026 after its internal probe found a build error with second-row center and driver-side seat belt buckle anchors.
- The recall covers roughly 1,271,294 vehicles in the U.S., about 156,138 in Canada, 15,088 in Mexico and roughly 74,084 in other markets, and not every truck in the group will necessarily have an improperly attached anchor.
- Dealers will inspect both second-row buckle anchors and, when an anchor is not properly fastened, will attach it to the vehicle body at no cost to owners; Stellantis plans to notify dealers around Aug. 6 and begin owner mailings around Aug. 18.
- The company reported one potentially related injury and no fatalities, and it says the condition is an assembly problem rather than a defective part but leaves affected trucks out of compliance with seat restraint standards until inspected.
- The recall will be applied regionally with small local counts in places such as Australia where about 800 recent right-hand-drive conversions are included while older remanufactured units built before the affected window are unaffected, and owners can check their VIN via Mopar or the NHTSA recall number 26V-495.
