Overview
- Stellantis told regulators on Tuesday that the recall covers roughly 1.3 million 2021–2025 Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles worldwide, including about 1.08 million in the United States.
- The company traced the defect to an electrical connection in the electric hydraulic power‑steering pump wiring that can develop high resistance, heat the connector and cause nearby combustible materials to ignite.
- Owners are being told to park affected vehicles outdoors and away from buildings and other cars until dealers can inspect and, if needed, repair or replace the wiring harness or the steering pump free of charge.
- Stellantis and NHTSA studied reports dating back to 2023 and reopened investigations after additional incidents in 2024, and the automaker says it logged dozens of field reports and one potential injury but no crashes or deaths tied to the flaw.
- Notifications will arrive by first‑class mail when repairs can be scheduled and owners can check recall status at recalls.mopar.com or the NHTSA recall database while Stellantis works to have a remedy in place by July.
