Steam Survey Now Lists Missing AMD GPUs, Lifting AMD Share

Valve’s May/June update appears to have finally detected RDNA 4 cards which gives a clearer picture of AMD adoption on Steam.

Overview

  • The May/June 2026 Steam Hardware Survey, published Friday, added discrete entries for several previously absent AMD models including the RX 9070 XT, RX 9060 XT and RX 7900 XT.
  • The RX 9070 XT shows about a 1.33% share on its first visible appearance, making it the top named AMD card on Steam and placing it narrowly behind NVIDIA’s RTX 5080.
  • Steam’s total reported AMD GPU share rose from roughly 10.6% to about 19.1%, a jump that reporters attribute mainly to Steam finally registering those cards rather than an abrupt shift in sales.
  • NVIDIA still dominates the highest-use slots on Steam, with mid-range cards leading the chart such as the RTX 3060 at about 4.02%, the RTX 4060 laptop at 3.99%, and the RTX 4060 desktop at 3.74%.
  • The update shows the limits of Steam’s opt-in, client-reported tracking and gives gamers and analysts a more detailed view of AMD uptake, though the survey covers only participating Steam users and may not equal global sales figures.
