Starling Bank Launches AI Smart Tools for Its Assistant

The bank says it will expand the task-based skills every week using customer feedback to automate saving, fraud protection and business tax tasks.

Overview

  • Starling publicly rolled out the smart tools on Thursday, August 20, 2026, and made Rainy Day Saver and Fraud Control available as the first skills.
  • Rainy Day Saver analyses a customer’s income, direct debits and spending to set up realistic regular transfers into a dedicated savings Space.
  • Fraud Control lets customers enable protections such as Snatch-Theft Detector, Call Status Indicator and the bank’s Scam Intelligence image analysis.
  • The smart tools are delivered through the Starling Assistant, which accepts natural language and voice prompts and can carry out actions on behalf of customers.
  • Starling developed the programme from internal engineering practices that codified routine tasks into reusable ‘skills’ and plans a weekly, feedback-driven rollout that could increase uptake and change how customers manage money and taxes.
