Star Wars Exhibition to Premiere at The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia

  • The Franklin Institute announced Tuesday that Star Wars: The Experience — A Journey Through the Galaxy will open Feb. 13, 2027 and run through Sept. 6, 2027 before beginning a five‑year North American tour.
  • The exhibition is an official collaboration between The Franklin Institute, Lucasfilm, Disney Consumer Products, and design firm MDSX and was developed over more than four years.
  • Spread across 18,000 square feet, the multi‑gallery show will feature over 70 artifacts from the Lucasfilm archives, many on public display for the first time, including Darth Vader’s costume, Darth Maul’s lightsaber, Grogu, R2‑D2, C‑3PO, a speeder bike, and props from Andor.
  • Visitors will move through large immersive moments and an RFID‑powered interactive experience that personalizes a cinematic tour of the creative disciplines behind Star Wars such as costume, sound design, visual effects, creatures, and gaming.
  • More specifics including gallery renderings and ticketing mechanics will be revealed at a San Diego Comic‑Con panel on July 24, 2026, with member presales planned for October 2026 and general public tickets scheduled for November 2026.
